Focus on Quality
Axdahl Farms, whose roadside stand has been a fixture in Stillwater for more than a decade is approved by the Food Alliance Midwest . The certification indicates that Axdahl Farms has met standards for conserving and protecting natural resources, reducing or eliminating pesticides, and providing safe and fair working conditions for employees.
Axdahl Farms takes a sustainable approach to growing crops, incorporating earth friendly practices in the operations. "If we take care of the land, it will take care of us," says Leslie Axdahl. Axdahl's takes care to protect the natural habitat of birds and other creatures with unplowed and undisturbed buffer zones, ponds, and wooded areas.
Axdahl Farms is also recognized for the fair and respectful treatment of employees. During harvest time that runs July through October, Axdahl's hires up to 35 local people to help in the fields and at the stand. It's a great chance for local kids to get agricultural experience and have gainful employment.
